Laurie received her BS Degree in Dental Hygiene at The University of Maryland Dental School Baltimore, MD in 2011. She joined the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center and National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research in 2015 as a hospital dental hygienist, and is currently a Clinical Research Specialist, Public Health Dental Hygiene Practitioner in the Oral Immunology and Inflammation Section for NIDCR.
At NIDCR, Laurie leads a clinical program focused on genetic susceptibility to periodontal disease and other immune mediated tissue destruction in the oral cavity.

Ms. Weerasinge has worked within the association for more than 1 year. She currently is a clinical dental hygienist at a private practice in Takoma Park, Maryland. Ms. Weerasinge is currently pursuing her master's in dental hygiene education and public health at University of Bridgeport. Outside of the association, she likes to spend time with her family.
